Can you share a bit of your company’s background?
Ktima Avgerinou is a family-owned agricultural enterprise located in Amfikleia, Fthiotida, at the foothills of Mount Parnassus. We began our journey in 2017 by planting our first walnut trees, and by 2019, we had established a thriving orchard of 500 Chandler-variety walnut trees across 28 acres.
We aim to produce certified, high-quality walnuts that honour and respect our consumers. We are committed to sustainable farming practices and maintaining the natural balance of our environment. Beyond cultivation, we offer visitors the opportunity to tour our farm, learn about our agricultural methods, and even participate in seasonal activities. Additionally, we provide accommodation in our guesthouse in Amfikleia, allowing guests to fully immerse themselves in the beauty and traditions of our region.
What are your goals for the future of your company? How do you plan to continue pushing boundaries in the food and beverage industry while staying true to your roots?
Our primary goal is to expand Ktima Avgerinou reputation for producing high-quality, sustainably farmed walnuts that reflect the rich agricultural traditions of Amfikleia. As we look to the future, we aim to enhance our farming techniques with innovative, eco-friendly practices, ensuring that each product represents the best of our land. We also plan to increase our involvement in the food and beverage industry by developing new walnut-based products and expanding partnerships with local artisans and producers who share our values.
By blending modern advancements with time-honoured methods, we stay deeply connected to our roots while contributing to a forward-thinking approach in agriculture. Each step forward will be taken with respect for the environment, our heritage, and the communities we serve.

Do you have any upcoming products or innovations that you are particularly excited about?
At Ktima Avgerinou, we’re excited to announce the development of a new product: walnut butter. This initiative aims to offer a nutritious and flavorful spread, expanding our product line while maintaining our commitment to quality.
Additionally, we’re exploring collaborations with local artisans to create unique, walnut-infused delicacies. These partnerships reflect our dedication to innovation and community engagement, allowing us to introduce distinctive products that honour our heritage and delight our customers.

What makes your product different? Why should consumers choose your brand?
Our walnuts stand out because of our dedication to quality and the care we put into every step of the production process. Located at the foothills of Mount Parnassus, our trees benefit from a unique microclimate and nutrient-rich soil that naturally enhances the flavour and quality of our walnuts. We use sustainable and meticulous farming methods, allowing us to deliver a product that is both high in nutritional value and exceptional in taste.

How much has technology helped you?
Although we’re not yet using advanced agricultural technology at Ktima Avgerinou, we recognize its potential, especially as new technologies gradually make their way into traditional farming. We rely on hands-on methods, carefully managing each aspect, from soil preparation to tree health and irrigation. This approach lets us maintain close control over quality and respond intuitively to the land’s needs.
As technology slowly begins to penetrate our market, we’re excited about the possibilities it offers for even greater precision and sustainability in the future. Integrating tools like precision irrigation and health monitoring could enhance our work while allowing us to stay true to our commitment to quality and tradition.
Does your product(s) have sustainable and environmentally friendly characteristics?
Sustainability and environmental respect are core values at Ktima Avgerinou. From the beginning, we have focused on practices that preserve the natural balance of our land and minimize our ecological footprint. Our walnuts are cultivated without harsh chemicals, and we consult with agricultural experts on what products to use, when to apply them, and in what quantities to ensure effective, environmentally responsible methods that protect the soil, water, and surrounding ecosystem. Additionally, to further reduce our footprint, we avoid using plastic in our packaging, choosing materials that are better for the environment.
To what degree has climate change affected your production and business development?
Climate change has undoubtedly affected our operations at Ktima Avgerinou. Unpredictable weather patterns, such as shifts in temperature and irregular rainfall, have created new challenges in managing tree health, irrigation, and harvest timing. These conditions require us to be more adaptable and proactive, consulting with experts to mitigate potential effects on our production. These new challenges have sometimes increased costs as we invest in additional resources and measures to protect our trees and maintain quality.
Despite these obstacles, we remain committed to sustainable practices that positively impact the environment. By adopting resilient techniques and preparing for future climate scenarios, we strive to safeguard our land, ensure consistent quality, and support the long-term growth of our business.
